If you have ever had spyware hiding on your computer, you may know what it is to experience the frustration hijacked web pages, multiple pop-ups, and/or a computer that just runs slower and slower.

Let's look at the Spyzooka program and see if it is an effective solution.

The interface is easy to use.  The status menu lets you know when you did your last scan, what is quarantined, what objects you ignored, how many threats to your computer were removed when you did your last scan, and when you last updated your program. The “view quarantine” and “view ignore” list allows you to reinstate these if you like. Clicking on auto-update in the upper right hand corner allows you to set automatic updates, something that is particularly important in a program of this sort.

The Start Scan allows you a choice of  a quick scan, a full scan, or you can scan individual folders.  Once you make your choice be sure to hit the scan button.  I almost didn't!  One really nice feature is that if a problem comes up and you have to shut down your computer immediately you can hit the stop scan button.  When the scan is done clicking the results button allows you to remove the spyware that was found.  This also allows you to connect with customer service if needed.

Spyguard is the program's resident protection.  It alerts you with either a red or a yellow alert  (depending upon the severity of the threat) if something trying to install itself on your computer.  You are also given the opportunity to choose several ways to protect Internet Explorer from malware that  does things like changing settings such as your home page, and keeping uninvited pages from overriding where you are directing your browser. In this same area you can choose which programs you will allow to run on your computer and which ones to deny.

The settings menu essentially allows you to choose whether to start the program with Windows and whether it should do a scan when it first starts up.  It also allows it to start minimized.

Tools allow you to control activeX, your IE toolbars (a favorite hiding place for spyware), browser help objects, and more.  A n attractive addition is a military grade file shredder.  Another tab allows you to turn messenger service on or off.

Not only did I find Spyzooka to be comprehensive spyware protection, I was surprised by their guarantee.  This is the only spyware remover that I have run into that guarantees removal of all types of spyware from your PC.  If you are having trouble removing spyware you can send them a report straight from the results section of the scan and within 24 hours there will be an update that will remove it.
